Copa Del Rey Final: Barcelona battle it out with Sevilla
The Atletico Madrid’sWanda Metropolitano Stadium will host the 116th final of the Copa Del Rey match between Barcelona and Sevilla on tomorrow, Saturday, April 21, 2018.
Barcelona will be competing in their 40th Copa Del Rey final whiles Sevilla plays their 9th final in what promised to be a match to watch.
The Catalans have won 29 record titles and are seeking to win their fourth consecutive title, a record shared by Real Madrid and Atletico Bilbao while the Los Rojiblancos have won currently holds five Copa Del Rey titles having won their last edition in 2010.
Sevilla went pass Cartagena 7-0, Cadiz 4-1, Atletico Madrid 5-2 and Leganes 3-1 all on aggregate to sail through to the finals while Barcelona beat Valencia 3-0 on aggregate in the semi-final after they have eliminated Espanyol 2-1, Celta Vigo 2-1 and Murcia 8-0 on aggregate.
The defending champions, Barcelona beat Alaves 3-1 at the Vicente Calderon stadium in the 2016/17 final.
Man of the match, Lionel Messi scored the opener with Neymar Jr and Paco Alacer cementing the victory for the Catalans as Theo Hernandez scored the consolation goal for Alaves.
The last time both teams met was in 2016 at the Vicente Calderon Stadium Madrid, where Barcelona won 2-0 after extra time when Jordi Alba and Neymar Jr had scored in the 97th and 120th minute respectively.
Both teams had a man sent off, Javier Mascherano of Barcelona and Ever Banega of Sevilla.
Sevilla would hope to lift the trophy for the 6th time when they lock horns with Barcelona on Saturday.
