East Akim Municipality Top Road Accident Cases In E/R, NRSC & Assembly To Take Action
The municipality which has accident prone areas such as Apedwa and Bunso Junction respectively has recorded numerous road accidents claiming the lives of many and injuring others.
Credible reports reaching Brytfmonline.com indicate East Akim municipality tops in road accident cases in the Eastern region from January to June, 2018.
Eastern Regional Acting Regional Manager of the National Road Safety Commission (NRSC), Abdullah Bawa Ghamsah disclosing this to Bryt FM editorial team emphasized the situation is alarming and needs pragmatic measures to deal with.
He stressed he has already met the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, Owusu Twum-Ampofo to find ways of addressing the issue.
On the statistics that placed East Akim among all MDAs in the region is cumulative analysis of RTC statistics from 1995 – 2016 as presented by BRRI. The provisional statistics by MTTD from January – June and placed Eastern Region first in terms of crash Fatalities in the country.

Mr. Ghamesah debunked the assertion that most vehicles involved in accident in the region are on transit but queried why such accidents do not occur in the other regions.
“Most of these vehicles pass through the Northern, Brong Ahafo and Ashanti regions before reaching the Eastern region. So the question is why is it that they do not get involved in accident in all these regions but end up crushing in the Eastern region. It shows there is something wrong” he insisted.
