One of the oldest most beautiful and cherished clothe in Ghana is Kente but it seems the business is running low hence a call has been made to government to support the art under the ‘one district, one factory policy.

According to weavers, the Chinese have imported fake ones on the market with low prizes therefore discouraging local producers as patronage is very poor.

They are, however, pleading with the government to come to their aid in order to expand the business for improved livelihood.

Kente is highly honored in Ghana and must be put in the right position to maintain its priority and value for generational met.

The producers in an encounter with the media mentioned many of the youth will engage themselves in the business if government help to expand their operations to reduce youth unemployment.

However, the minister of Tourism and Creative Arts, Caterine Afeku hinted her outfit will help eradicate the Chinese who import the fake clothe into the country to maintain its value.

“Since the time of Yaa Asantewaa, kente has been used for many various cultural and traditional activities and therefore we must protect and preserve its value so that fake ones are ceased from entering into the country” some aggrieved weavers complained.
