Miss Ghana 2018 To Be Launched Tomorrow As 2017 Winner Resigns

Ghana’s longest running and most popular beauty pageant, “Miss Ghana”, is set to be launched tomorrow, Thursday, August 2, 2018 at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel in Accra as the winner of the 2017 pageant, Margaret Dery, an Upper West representative for the pageant resigns.
The beauty queen, who was crowned October 7 last year at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra, revealed that she is no longer interested in holding the office as Ghana’s beauty queen.
Miss Dery, just after eight months as queen has sent an email to the organisers, Exclusive Events Ghana, to formally inform them of her decision.
Exclusive Events Ghana, organisers of the Miss Ghana pageant say they have “gladly accepted” the resignation of the winner of the 2017 pageant, Margaret Dery.
Exclusive Events Ghana, owned by Inna Mariam Patty, in the statement, noted that contrary to the sharp criticisms the pageant has suffered for some time now.
The pageant has a core mandate of promoting “the culture of discipline, respect for authority, good corporate governance and use the crown to change the lives of the vulnerable and deprived communities.”
The pageant, organized by Exclusive Events Ghana Ltd, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture, would seek to create awareness on various socio-economic problems confronted by deprived communities.
It would also provide proactive solutions to the challenges of these deprived communities.
Over the years, the Miss Ghana Foundation has embarked on various social interventions, to salvage various communities and notable among them is the Don Bosco Street Child Project, where the Foundation aided in acquisition of a 10-acre land and established a hostel for thousands of street children, who are given social and technical training.
The activities by the Miss Ghana Foundation has necessitated the need to choose a face that best represent their agenda hence the vigorous selection process for the ultimate winner.
