Residents of Hweehwee in the Kwahu East District Assembly have expressed gratitude to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Isaac Agyapong for providing them with a new market.

The market which has about 48 shelves was commissioned on Friday 14th September, to enhance trading activities in the District.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the DCE explained that the commissioning of the market was an evidence of the assembly’s commitment to boost local economic development and enhance the socio- economic needs of the people.

He said the market would go a long way to undoubtedly create jobs for the youth and women and generally enhance the socio-economic lives of people, especially those living within Hweehwee and surrounding communities.

“In boosting the local economy of Kwahu East District, all markets within the District must be put in good shape and this is the beginning”, He revealed.

This is the first time the Market is seeing a major facelift since it’s inception in 1960.

Hon. DCE, Isaac Agyapong further implored traders to take good care of the facility to preserve it for a long time.
