YEA Recruits 45 Community Policing Assistants In Upper West Akyem

The programme is collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency aimed at complimenting the efforts of the police in enhancing safety and security at the community level.

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Upper West Akyem District in the Eastern Region has recruited 45 Community Policing Assistants (CPA) for the past year.

The programme is collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the Youth Employment Agency aimed at complimenting the efforts of the police in enhancing safety and security at the community level.

Apart from working as traffic wardens, the CPAs will work closely with the MMDAs on their community improvement projects.

Addressing a maiden Town Hall Meeting Organized by the Ministry of Information and Information Services Department in collaboration with the Upper West Akyem District Assembly, the Chief Executive, Mr. Eugene Sackey said some of the CPA’s are currently working with the Police in Mepom, Asikasu, Adeiso and other vantage areas and pledged to collaborate with the District Security Council to ensure Peace and Order.

On the Nation Builders Corp Program which is expected to recruit about 100,000 Graduates across the Country, Mr. Sackey said 92 had applied in the District but they are supposed to engage 300 people.

He said the Assembly succeeded in ensuring the recruitment of 87 people under the Cocoa Board’s Pruning and Pollination Program while 56 others were engaged in the Cocoa Mass Spraying Exercise.

Mr. Sackey said the Assembly also disbursed monies meant for beneficiaries of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) in 13 Communities and revealed that poor and needy people had been Identified in 30 Communities who are expected to be added to the existing number to improve living conditions.
