National Health Day was celebrated on Thursday (5). And although Brazil and the world have been ill for more than a year, as a result of the Covid-19 epidemic, it is important to highlight the many achievements of the city of São Paulo in recent months, when residents have been able to count on the help of the equipment of the Municipal Health Service, check below.

1. 10 million doses have been applied against Covid-19
Of all the great achievements, the vaccine is undoubtedly the most important. At the end of July, the capital’s vaccination campaign against Covid-19 crossed the mark of 10 million doses applied. All immunizing agents available in vaccination centers have been approved by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) and the World Health Organization (WHO), with proven safety and efficacy.

2. More than 600 vaccination points in the capital against Covid-19

With the progress of the vaccination campaign against the Corona virus, the city of São Paulo began to open more and more vaccination centers. There are 468 basic health units, 82 integrated AMAs/UBS units, three school health centers, 17 Specialized Care Services (SAEs), 21 mega stations with pedestrian access, and 21 push cars, as well as mobile stations and partner pharmacies. 3. Queue monitoring exceeds 15 million visits in 45 days
De Olho na Fila is a tool for the city of São Paulo with the aim of accelerating the vaccination process against Covid-19. The platform quickly passed 15 million infections from people who researched the movement at more than 600 coronavirus vaccination points in the city. To avoid long queues and crowding, it is simply necessary to get to the site before going to the vaccination center.

4. PrEP in the street
The PrEP na Rua project, by the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) STI/AIDS Coordination, first implemented in June, seeks to expand access to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). It consists in protecting a person from HIV even before exposure to it, with the constant use of antiretroviral drugs, one pill a day. In the measures encouraged by the project, residents also have access to rapid HIV tests, condoms, lubricating gels and HIV self-test kits.

5. SUS is elected as the best public service in the capital
For the first time, the Unified Health System (SUS) was elected by the residents of São Paulo as the best public service in the city. The achievement was featured in Datafolha’s survey, as of 2021, published in “O Melhor de São Paulo – Serviços 2021”, by Folha de S.Polo newspaper. The survey has been conducted annually since 2015. According to the publication, the public health system was named the best service in the capital by 13% of those interviewed and ousted Poptempo, the six-time champion institution in the survey which had 12% of appointments. Metro, which was already on top of the podium four years ago, received 11% of the nominations in 2021.
