Sues McDonald’s because he couldn’t resist an ad and ate breakfast so fast

WLA Russian woman alleges that fast-food chain McDonald’s hamburger ads have manipulated her and that she was forced to eat breakfast because of her religion. Therefore, the restaurant is suing.

“When I saw the ad, I couldn’t contain myself,” said Ksenia Ovchinnikova, an Orthodox Christian. Court documents obtained by domestic means.

The facts date back to April 2019, in the city of Omsk, during a period of fasting, when Christians in that region must refrain from eating meat and all its derivatives.

The woman claims that she succeeded in fasting for a month when she saw an advertisement for hamburger and chicken nuggets. At that point, he admits, he went to McDonald’s and bought a hamburger.”

Having already successfully completed 16-year periods of fasting, Ksenia Ovchinnikova filed a lawsuit against the restaurant chain, asking for 1,000 rubles (11.5 euros) as compensation for violating the Consumer Protection Act and insulting her religious beliefs.

Russian media indicated that the court will soon set a date for the preliminary hearing.
