″After Eriksen, it gave us goosebumps ″. Bordeaux player collapses on the field

Bordeaux striker Samuel Kalou missed the field on Sunday during a Ligue 1 match as temperatures reached 30 degrees Celsius.

The 23-year-old Nigeria international collapsed and fell on the field in the early stages of the match. His concerned colleagues gathered around Kalou and frantically waved to the bank for medical help. After a few moments, Kalu was able to get up, but was replaced by Remi Oudin.

The accident came just two months after Denmark’s Christian Eriksen suffered a heart attack during a match at Euro 2020.

“I was thinking about what happened during the European Championship,” said Bordeaux coach Vladimir Petkovic. “With the medical team, we chose to replace him so as not to take any risks. In these cases, football takes a back seat“.

“The Kalou incident gave us goosebumps,” Odin said. “With what happened to Eriksen at the Euro, we were left thinking. Everyone was a little scared. Fortunately, it turned out well. According to the doctors, it was just an inconvenience, but he will definitely have the tests on Monday.”

In June 2019, Kalou was taken to hospital after becoming dehydrated while training with Nigeria in the Egyptian heat during the Africa Cup of Nations.
