Manchester City is suffering from an extraordinary wave of injuries that, in recent days, have ruled out Gundogan, Rodri, Laporte, John Stones and Zinchenko.
The European champions and runners-up are preparing to face a series of three matches in just one week, against Wycombe (League Cup), Chelsea (English Premier League) and Paris Saint-Germain (UEFA Champions League).
Pep Guardiola admits that managing the team will not be an easy task and assures that he will have to bet on some youngsters in the formation.
“We will see how many players can recover in the coming days, because at the moment we are going through a difficult time. It is a good opportunity for some young people to show themselves”, the coach of the Spanish nationals told the Guardian.
“I have no alternative. We will play with some young players and others from the first team, but some will have to rest in the upcoming matches. And some players from the youth teams will have to enter,” he added, referring to two of the three Portuguese players in the squad.
He concluded: “Robyn Dias and Cancelo have already spent several minutes on their legs and are likely to rest against Wycombe.”
