Disney has made changes to its film schedule and the most relevant movie will renew jokes about another delay to the upcoming “Indiana Jones” movie and the Harrison Ford era.
Officially announced for the first time in 2016, the fifth release date for “Indiana Jones” is now June 30, 2023, two weeks before the star turns 81.
Filming is currently underway after a hiatus of several weeks due to Ford’s injury, and has been announced to debut on July 19, 2019, July 10, 2020, July 9, 2021, and July 29, 2022.
Other changes affect the Marvel films, but they are essentially a reorganization: according to the North American press, delays in the development and production of some titles have led to a domino effect in the cinematic universe.
The changes, though, may prompt rival studios to adjust their calendars.
Sam Raimi’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” continues the start of the 2022 Marvel season, but now on May 6 instead of March 25.
With this, Tika Waititi’s “Thor: Love and Thunder” changes from May 6 to July 8, 2022 and Ryan Coogler’s “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” changes from that date to November 11, 2022, as it was the premiere of “The Marvels” by Nia DaCosta, which has been postponed until February 17, 2023.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” moves from the new date of “The Marvels” to July 28, 2023.
The only Marvel movie to keep this date is “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, dated May 5, 2023.
Another undisclosed Marvel project has been moved from November 10 to November 3, 2023, while another project scheduled for October 6, 2023 has been canceled from the schedule.
