Fans have attacked the Premier League’s agreement to sell Newcastle to a Saudi consortium.

British police are investigating Crystal Palace fans who made a critical move in the Premier League. The poster was an apology for the sale of Newcastle, a competitor, on Saturday. The police are investigating an accusation of racism against Arabs.

The banner depicted the club’s new Saudi owners, with a man about to behead a bird while unidentified fans cheered in the background. The phrase “We got our club back” can be read on the banner seen at Selhurst Park.

Additionally, Premier League chief executive Richard Masters is pictured, accompanied by a bag of cash. The poster also recorded crimes that human rights organizations say the Saudi regime is responsible for, with a tag next to each: terrorism, beheadings, civil rights violations, murder, persecution and censorship.

A statement issued by a group of “Holmsdale Fanatics” supporters, according to the Guardian newspaper, said that the Premier League “chosen money over morals” in allowing the acquisition by a Saudi consortium, adding that it “dealed with one of the deadliest and most oppressive regimes in the world.”

Croydon City Police said via Twitter that they have “received a report of an offensive banner placed by Crystal Palace supporters, which is being investigated”. “Any allegation of racist abuse will be taken seriously,” he said.
