The Portuguese Football Federation’s arbitration board denounced early this morning that referee Estrella da Amadora Benfica B, who finished in a 6-3, win, was attacked at the end of the match. In a statement, CA explained that match referee, Miguel Nogueira, of AF Lisbon, reported being attacked in the access corridor to the changing room used by Estádio’s refereeing team José Gomes, with one of those already responsible for the aggression. It has already been identified and reported to the Disciplinary Board.

Referee Estrella da Amadora-Benfica B, Serie B, reported Monday to the refereeing board of assaults in the access corridor to the changing room used by the refereeing team at the Jose Gómez Stadium. One of those responsible for the attack was identified by the security forces present in the stadium.

The arbitration board has already reported the incident to the disciplinary board.

CA strongly rejects this event, which it considers extremely dangerous, and expresses its solidarity with the judging team formed by Miguel Nogueira, Nuno Pereira, Jose Luzia and Pedro Bras. Sports venues should be safe places where everyone can exercise freely. What happened on Monday in a professional competition is shameful and deserves the swift and full punishment of those responsible.

The jury appeals to all sports agents to ensure security at the events they organize and for which they are responsible.

Situations like this Monday cannot be repeated.

The arbitration board will provide full support to the arbitration team.”
