Governor Mauro Méndez (Dim) announced Friday (28) that he will not take any measures to restrict social life in the face of increases in the contamination record of the new wave of influenza affecting the population, with the contamination of the emerging coronavirus and its new form, omicron, as well as Influenza and H3N2. The possibility of a more stringent measure, namely the closure – the complete interruption of economic activities, was also excluded.

According to Mendes, social restriction measures must be adopted by mayors according to the specifics of each municipality. “I assure that the state government will not impose any kind of restrictions. Also because the mayors have the autonomy to act. The measures of stopping, sacrificing the economy and the citizen who wants to work cannot continue with precautionary measures and continue to work,” he said.

The statement came during the liberation of the Goromerim Trench on Avenida Miguel Sutil in Cuiaba.

Mendes also believes that the only measure to fully resume activities is for the population to accept the vaccination and take the necessary doses to avoid the risks. “It has already been proven that for those who have been vaccinated with all doses, Covid-19 has turned into a little bit of influenza. Unvaccinated people are more susceptible. We need to return to normal life, where schools are working and people are working and developing their activities,” he concluded.

According to the Epidemiological Bulletin of the State Department of Health (SES), 6,170 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed within 24 hours. In the past seven days, the average daily new cases have been five thousand.
