Capcom Reveals Street Fighter 6 and Combat Game Collection to Celebrate Publisher’s 35th Anniversary

Over the weekend, Capcom piqued its fans’ curiosity with a countdown to the unveiling of a new game. The stakes were high, but the logic would be a new combat title, as it was an announcement in the context of the 2021 Capcom Pro Tour season finale, the flagship esports event.

And as expected, the Japanese publisher has revealed Street Fighter 6, the new chapter in the long-running fighting game series. But she also took the opportunity to announce Capcom Fighting, a lineup of fighting games to celebrate the company’s 35 years in the video game industry.

Capcom hasn’t revealed much about the new game, with a trailer showing protagonist Ryu being challenged by a new fighter named Luke. Capcom said in the statement that this will be the 45th fighter in the character lineup for the current Street Fighter V game, but she will play a major role in the next game in the series. To keep the celebrations going for 35 years, the publisher is releasing the Capcom Fighting Collection anthology with 10 classic games. The highlight is the Darkstalkers series, which is included in the set, being the first time it has been released outside of Japan. The company says that each game has been revitalized to offer online multiplayer matches, but also advanced new features, as well as general improvements. Fans can visit an image gallery of over 500 artworks and concept studies as well as a database of over 400 game songs.

The set hits stores June 24 for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC, and includes the following games:

– Vampire Savior: Vampire Master

– Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers ‘Revenge

– Vampire Savior 2: Vampire Master

Hyper Street Fighter II: Anniversary Edition

– Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo

– Super Gym Fighter Mini Mix

– Cyberbots: Fullmetal Madness

Capcom is also preparing a Street Fighter lineup to celebrate the series’ 30th anniversary. This will consist of 12 classic titles from the series, in what will be the “definitive releases” according to the company. Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, Street Fighter Alpha 3 and Street Fighter III: Third Strike are some of the classics that fans can revisit on the same platforms.
