Saúde de Picos promotes an educational initiative on awareness and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases – RIACHAONET Portal

On the morning of Friday, March 25, Pecos Municipality implemented, through the Health Department and the Center for Testing and Consultation (CTA), a joint action aimed at prevention and care of sexually transmitted diseases, along with social service. In a statement, CTA coordinator, Fábio Bernardes, reported on the importance of Blitz whose theme was “With or without Carnival, Prevention Continues”. “The Pecos Municipal Health Service provides all the support, with the team doing blood tests, blood glucose and blood pressure checks, among other activities. Asked about the delay in diagnosis, he said that for some tests, the analysis of which should be more in-depth, patient data will be collected for later assessment results. It also assures that the CTA is available to residents for screening and counselling.

“Here in the CTA we have a free order, the person arrives with a SUS card and ID, then they register at the reception and they can take tests for syphilis, hepatitis and HIV, including these two tests for chlamydia and gonorrhea,” the coordinator concludes.
