The possibility of an epidemic of dengue fever worries the Ministry of Health in Quattro Pontes. That’s because the number of cases rose from two to four in one day. It seems small, but given the population of the municipality, the situation is already on alert and there is a need for increased preventive measures by the population regarding the eradication of the Aedes aegypti mosquito outbreak.

Yesterday’s bulletin (16), updated by the Health Supervision Department, still records 12 notifications, six are under investigation and awaiting results, and two have been neglected. Endemic agents, with the support of civil servants from the Ministry of Works, Urbanization and Transportation, are already implementing work to prevent breeding sites, given that there have been several larval infestations.

The insecticide is applied to control the Aedes aegypti mosquito by sprays with a coastal ultra-low volume (UBV) device, and when citizens see the team, they need to facilitate entry. Doors and windows should also be left open so that the insecticide can spread and reach the mosquitoes in the home. You still need to leash dogs and protect small animals, such as birds, or cover them or leave them in a secluded room while spraying. Also be careful not to be exposed to insecticide spray, in addition to not leaving clothes on the line and not approaching the pump operator.

Orders

The Department of Health, through endemic agents, requires residents to take care of their homes, with frequent inspections of gutters, water tanks, plant pots, drains, refrigerator trays, animal water pots and all items exposed to the open air in which water may accumulate.

In schools, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has started a guidance campaign asking parents or legal guardians to apply insect repellent to children and to include the product in school supplies. Complaints should be submitted by contacting the municipality’s SUS Ombudsman, at 98804-2060.
