Goiânia begins, on Monday (04), the 24th influenza vaccination campaign. Doses will be available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., in 71 routine vaccination rooms, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Clube da Caixa Econômica Federal, on Avenida T-1, 1155, Quadra 53, Setor Bueno, where the official launch of the campaign , by the municipal health secretary, Dorval Pedroso.

It is estimated, according to the Municipal Health Department (SMS) of Goiânia, that 519,378 residents of the capital are part of priority groups for vaccination. According to the schedule of the Ministry of Health (MS), the 24th influenza vaccination campaign will be implemented in two phases, the first until April 30, targeting the elderly aged 60 years and over, and health.

In the second phase, from May 2 to June 3, doses will be for children aged six months to less than 5 years (04 years, 11 months and 29 days), pregnant and postpartum women, indigenous peoples, teachers, and people with disease Accompanying and persons with permanent disabilities, as well as the armed forces, truck drivers, public transport workers, adolescents and young adults between the ages of 12 and 21, under social and educational measures, among others.

“We are asking the population to adhere to the influenza vaccination, as has been done with the vaccination against Covid-19,” stresses the CEO, Rogerio Cruz. “Annual immunization reduces complications, hospitalizations and deaths from infection with the influenza virus; with this, it also reduces the impact on the health system, especially in this moment of the epidemic that we are still experiencing,” he highlights, regarding the importance of immunization.

“People were more concerned about getting a vaccine against Covid-19, but we think it will be different this year, as the epidemic has slowed,” Municipal Health Minister Dorval Pedroso adds. The SMS notes that due to the high demand for routine vaccinations, the local Center for Vaccination (CMV) will not administer doses against influenza or Covid-19.
