In February 2020, Angela Ferreira brought “An Endless Love Story”. After her husband, Hugo, dies of terminal cancer, Angela intends to continue the love story and struggles to conceive from her late husband.
“What happened between me and Hugo in the beginning was too strong. There are no words” Angela says.
Hugo passed away but before that, he managed to realize one of his dreams. 24 hours before his death, the couple married: “He only had the strength to say yes,” Angela reveals.
But one dream kept coming true: to build a family. Angela promised that even death would not betray the couple’s dream and began the struggle for pregnancy from her late husband.
Shortly after the death, Angela Ferreira revealed that she asked a hospital doctor if she could start the IVF process and the answer was no because her husband died.
Angela did not give up. The story made it to Parliament, and in November 2021, a postmortem vaccination procedure was approved.
“Finally, something that should have been approved a long time ago was approved. Of course we were happy. Everyone who has lived with the couple knows that it was their dream,” A friend of the couple said.
Dream dominates life and on February 21 of this year, Angela Ferreira performed in vitro insemination. A few days later, he underwent tests in the hospital, but the result was unexpected: negative.
Angela tried but failed again. IVF success rate is only 10%. Angela has always wanted to undergo IVF because she has a better chance of getting pregnant.
The regulatory entity of reproductive medicine says that the only possible method in this case is artificial insemination. the art. 22 says so, but according to Art. IVF 26 can be performed in the same post-mortem conditions since November.
Angela feels wronged and talks about discrimination. It considers that the organizational entity is not acting in good faith and that it is “Running with time”.
