It’s the end of one of the most successful products of the 21st century: Apple ends iPod production

The tech giant Apple announced the iPod portable music player, which was launched in 2001 but lost popularity with the development of new hardware.

Apple said the iPod Touch, the latest model of which was launched in 2019, will remain available until reservations run out, according to a company statement on Tuesday.

Writing over two decades ago, iPod “has attracted users from all over the world for the ability to take their music wherever they go,” but that feature is now found in other products of the company.

Apple’s vice president said Apple’s first digital music player made it possible to bring music “to hundreds of millions of users”, while “impacting the music industry” and also “redefining the way music is discovered, heard and shared.” Marketing Department, Greg Joswiak.

The revolutionary idea behind this invention was to connect the device to an “online” music store, the iTunes Store, which turned Apple into a multimedia content provider.

“The spirit of the iPod lives on” in all of Apple’s other products that enable music playback and sharing, Joswiak said.
