A Dutch energy company said Monday afternoon that Russia will cut off all gas supplies, after the company refused to pay for gas in Russian rubles, he wrote. Agence France-Presse on Twitter.

After May 31, the Dutch energy company will not receive Terra gas from Russia’s Gazprom.

The company is responsible for purchasing oil and gas on behalf of the Dutch government.

“We understand Gas Terra’s decision not to accept payment terms unilaterally imposed by Gazprom,” Dutch Energy Minister Rob Getten wrote on Twitter, according to Reuters.

– He added that this decision will not have consequences for the material supply of gas to Dutch families.

Denmark may lose deliveries

Energy company Ørsted said Russia may cut off natural gas supplies to Denmark.

The Russian reason is that Ørsted – formerly DONG Energy – refuses to accept the request to pay for gas in rubles.

Previously, Russian energy giant Gazprom halted gas shipments to Finland, Poland and Bulgaria for the same reasons.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she supports Ørsted’s decision. The company believes that it will be possible to replace Russian gas by purchasing gas from other suppliers.

Agence France-Presse reported that Denmark covers 18 percent of its annual energy consumption with natural gas. Three-quarters of the gas was produced in 2019 in Denmark. Much of what was imported came from Russia.
