hemophilia

Hemophilia is a blood clotting disorder. For example: when we cut a part of the body and it begins to bleed, proteins (elements responsible for the growth and development of all tissues of the body) work to stop the bleeding. This process is called coagulation. People with hemophilia lack these proteins and therefore bleed more than usual.

Hemophilia is classified into types A and B. People with hemophilia with type A have a deficiency of factor VIII (eight). People with hemophilia type B have a deficiency in factor IX (nine). Bleeding is the same in both types, but the severity of the bleeding depends on the amount of the factor present in the plasma (the fluid that accounts for 55% of the total blood volume).

Hemophilia is more likely to occur in men. It is a genetic disease transmitted from mother to children.

The bleeding is usually internal, that is, inside your body, in places you can’t see, like your muscles. And also externally on the skin caused by some injuries, the appearance of purple spots or bleeding. Mucous membranes (eg nose, gums, etc.) can also bleed.

Bleeding can arise after trauma or for no apparent reason. Cuts in the skin take longer for the bleeding to stop.
