Festival in SP combines science, art and technology | National Magazine

A festival in São Paulo combines science, art and technology.

Raise creativity to the power of a child or, through the hands of an adult, add technology, science and art. In any of the novels, the result does not come in the form of figures, but in the form of fiction.

“The proposal of the festival is to promote, disseminate and stimulate the aesthetic production produced from the digital tool,” explains Paola Bericinoto, co-organizer of the International Electronic Language Festival.

The festival, in the cultural center of Fiesp, has 1,000 square meters of parks and possibilities that extend through every movement of the body. One attraction, for example, explores augmented reality: Characters in virtual shadows mixed with real objects in three dimensions.

The “quantum jungle” is another successful interactive fixation. It allows the public to experience the behavior of subatomic particles through the concepts of quantum physics. It sounds complicated, but that impression fades in a jiffy. Just one touch, or several touches, for noise and an explosion of color to entertain and delight.

“The little lights are glowing, and every movement you make with the spring makes a different color. It’s something that makes me more connected, and makes me happier when I see it,” says student Gilherme Lima Manjak, 9.

The work of German Robin Baumgarten. The indie game developer was surprised by the Brazilian way of experiencing art: “It’s cool and it’s nice to see your work being used like that.”

Bringing art and audience together is exactly that: allowing play and building new realities. In the space that doubles, the festival collects 230 works by Brazilian artists and 35 other countries, and it is clear that the electronic language is indeed a global language.

“The interaction occurs as a natural consequence. Since all the media suggest this interaction for you to build the meaning of the work, the interaction ends with the organic participation in the exhibition,” says Paola Bericinoto.

Invention and distortion are productive practice in the service of good.
