The PSI index ended the last session of the week, up 0.68% to 6076.90 points. The Portuguese market faced the negative day witnessed by most European stock exchanges, with the exception of Madrid, which rose by about 0.25%, and London, which remained above the water line.

Of the 15 companies included in the national index, only three closed in the red, while Cortesera Amorim closed unchanged and the remaining 11 posted gains.

The most important event of the day goes to BCP, which rose 4.13% to 0.1489 euros. The bank, led by Miguel Maya, outperformed the sector in Europe, which rose about 1%, on the day that Fitch downgraded Millennium Bank, the Polish subsidiary of BCP, by two notches to a rating of “junk”.

The energy sector also had a positive day. Greenvolt advanced 2.14% to a new all-time high of €9.07, while Galp rose 1.39% to €10.1. In the EDP family, the renewables arm was up 1% while the parent company was up 0.18%.

Geronimo Martins, listed with the highest weight in the index, prevented further PSI gains. The retailer that owns the Pingo Doce is down 1.42%. REN and Navigator, with a loss of 0.18% and 0.05% respectively, were the other listed companies that closed in the red.
