Lille received and beat Auxerre (4-1), in the first round of the French first division. Thiago Diallo and Jose Fonte were the first players in the match which saw Paulo Fonseca’s debut as the home side’s captain.

The big star of the game turned out to be Canadian Jonathan David. After assisting Benjamin Andre (1′), he scored two goals (3′ and 39′). Zidadka (64) closed Lille’s accounts in the second half, and Charbonnier scored the honorable goal for the newly promoted Auxerre.

In the other afternoon matches, Lens (holding David da Costa) beat Brest (Mattias Pereira Lage) (3-2) by triples from Sotoka (27′, 62′, 65′, and still missed a penalty kick 33′). Belcapla (66 minutes) and Del Castillo (82) still give hope to outsiders, but defeat is assured.

In Montpellier, Pedro Mendes was off the bench in the home team’s win over Troyes (Abdo Conte, injured, was not an option). In the stop-and-go match, Saint-Louis’ goal (3) and Savagnier’s brace (15 and 81) acted as the home team’s reaction to Tardieu’s (12′ gp) and former Sporting Mama Baldé (17′) goals.
