Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that starting tomorrow, April 14, PlayStation 5 will receive its first major software update, which will include the ability to transfer and store game data to a compatible USB device, to save space on the internal SSD as well. Like shared play between PS5 and PS4.

This update will also include a large number of improvements in the user experience which will allow for more control and customization.

A new USB Extended Storage option lets you install and play PS4 titles on an external USB drive. In the case of PS5 games, the data can be passed to the external drive, to free up space on the internal SSD, but for it to play it must be copied to the internal drive again.

In early 2021, Sony announced that until summer, it would be possible to install an internal M.2 SSD, to increase the space available for PlayStation 5 games on an external drive, to create a very welcome space.

Generational “Share Play” will allow PS5 and PS4 players to enjoy the game while chatting in groups. This means PlayStation 5 players will be able to allow PlayStation 4 players to view their game screen and even experience PS5 games through gameplay sharing and vice versa.

On the other hand, this update will also bring improvements to the Game Base menu in order to provide players with faster access to content and more important features.

From tomorrow, players will still be able to disable group chats or adjust player size and enjoy new customization options for the game library or screen zoom. This first major update for PlayStation 5 will also include new adjustments to the awards and stats screen.
