Artemis 1, the first step to reclaiming the moon and colonizing space – Observer

She will begin writing a new chapter in space exploration on Monday: the Artemis 1 mission, the first step in an ambitious program developed by the US space agency, in partnership with private companies and the European Space Agency (ESA), To return humanity to the moonaboard a new missile in North America.

But Nuno Chabert Duarte, a space exploration specialist and founder of the science page Bit2Geek, explained to The Observer that the end goal is more complex than that: “The beginning of space colonization,” a plan that would “revolutionize mindsets.”

The Artemis 1 mission is scheduled to launch next Monday, August 29, during a window of opportunity Opens at 1:33pm and closes at 3:33pm in Lisbon, at Launch Complex 39B at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. This was the starting point for some of the Apollo missions and all space shuttle missions between 1986 and 2006 — including the Challenger, which exploded shortly after liftoff in what was the first fatal accident on a US spacecraft at altitude.
