Queen Elizabeth is dead – the program has changed

Published on

Palace press contact, Sven Geroldsen, can inform Dagbladet that there will be changes to the Royal House program in the next few days as a result of Queen Elizabeth’s death on Thursday afternoon.

The castle will not reveal what kind of changes will be made.

Flags at half mast

On Saturday, King Harald and Queen Sonja are scheduled to travel to Copenhagen to celebrate Denmark’s 50th birthday, Queen Margrethe.

And the royal palace announced earlier this evening that the castle’s flag will be raised at half mast on Friday.

Our thoughts address His Majesty the King and immediate family on the passing of Queen Elizabeth. For a century, the Queen devoted herself to her work and accompanied the British people in their joys and sorrows, through thick and thin. His Majesty King Harald said in a statement issued by the palace that our condolences are also to the British people.

Great respect

Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store (AP) told Dagbladet that he respects Queen Elizabeth’s life work.

A historic era and a long life in the service of Great Britain has ended, says the Prime Minister.

Over seven decades, it has represented continuity and unity, as well as in the close relationship between our two countries and our royal families. Our warmest thoughts now go to the many in Britain and the Commonwealth of Nations who have lost a beloved king, and to the Queen’s immediate family.

– So sad

Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg also commented on the death.

“It is with great sadness that we all received the news of the death of Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain,” Solberg tells Dagbladet.

She is only 25 years old, and in 1952 she became Head of State and King after the death of her father, King George VI, of cancer. For more than 70 years, she has been on the throne, and has contributed greatly to continuity in a world that has changed rapidly and drastically.

Thank you for your tireless efforts and valuable contribution to the world, Queen Elizabeth.

– God bless the Queen!
