The Municipal Health Department has informed that by a decision of the Ministry of Health, the polio and multiple vaccination campaigns have been extended until September 30. The extension of the term aims to increase vaccination coverage and the commitment of the population to vaccinate children and adolescents in all Brazilian municipalities.

To date, 60% of children aged 1-5 years have been immunized against polio, and 1668 doses have been applied since the beginning of mobilization in Toba.

According to the responsible ministry, the main goal is to achieve vaccination coverage equal to or greater than 95% of the polio vaccine in the target audience, in addition to reducing the number of unvaccinated children and adolescents under 15 years of age and increasing vaccination coverage. , according to the national vaccination calendar.

The head of the epidemiological surveillance sector, Juliana Yuri, warned of the importance and benefits of vaccination to prevent the return of the polio virus, as Brazil obtained the certificate of eradication of the disease in 1994.
