VRSA: The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education takes part in the “boot” of a ship produced by Nautiber

The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Hitor, today participates in the demonstration and “demolition” of the ship “Mar Provondo” by 10 am, at the shipyards of Notepre, in the Villa Real de Santo Antonio.

According to a note from the Committee for Coordination and Regional Development in the Algarve (CCDR), this is a research vessel for testing and validating technologies in marine sciences developed by TEC4SEA, a partnership formed by the Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC) of the University of Porto and the Center for Technology Research in Algarve (CINTAL), recognized by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and included in the National Research Roadmap (RNIIE).

Funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through the Northern Regional Operational Program, and through FCT through the National Funds, the ship will allow human, laboratory and logistical resources that can only operate on land to be transported to the high seas and deep seas. For free.

Enhanced by this marine unit, TEC4SEA develops combined research in the marine economy, focusing on robotics (autonomous and autonomous vehicles) and advanced communications and surveillance.

According to the CCDR, dedicated to building the shipowner, Nautiber – Estaleiros Navais do Guadiana Lda. Known as “Alfaiates da Fibra de Fibra”, it specializes in building in fiberglass reinforced polyester and repairing ships, “serving as an example of the potential of this sector and the potential to diversify the region’s economy”.

With a diversified portfolio, the company is closely associated with the area’s marine and marine fishing community, building fishing vessels (fishing vessels, longlines, netting nets, tuna boats and hooks) and supporting marine aquaculture, inspection and dredging units, and fishing vessels.
