Wayne Rooney was present this Sunday for an English TV broadcast accompanying the opening match of the 2022 World Cup. At one point, the former striker was asked to choose between Lionel Messi, Harry Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo (one in the starting line-up, one on the bench and one for sale). Rooney, who was targeted by Ronaldo in the controversial interview with Piers Morgan, was not surprised by the reaction and ignored the Portuguese international, justifying the decision: “He did not play for the club.”
