Helton Leite has been delegated by Benfica to look for a club and, as A BOLA knows, would rather stay in Europe than return to Brazil, where the local press continues to insist Vasco da Gama is interested in signing him. What is certain is that, contrary to the information provided by the Brazilian media, there was no contact with the 32-year-old goalkeeper or with the Reds. On the other hand, Benfica is also looking for a replacement, as reported by A BOLA on November 25.

With Portuguese citizenship, Helton Leite, signed by Benfica from Boavista in 2020, is exploring the possibility of staying in Europe and admits to leaving Portugal. The Eagles would prefer an eventual exit, with a recovery in investment. A loan could be the answer as long as Benfica gets rid of some loan players – which is what they hope to do with, say, centre-back German Conte or winger Yoni Gonzalez. In the summer, the Reds depleted the number of players on loan.

With only one challenge this season, against Caldas, in the Portuguese Cup, Helton Leite wants to play regularly. On the other hand, Benfica has already agreed to renew Odysseas Vlachodimos and is now looking for a young goalkeeper who already has some experience, similar to what he did when he signed with the Greek international.
