Diesel and petrol cheaper next week – energy

Published on

A source in the sector revealed to Negosius that the prices of petrol and diesel will fall again starting next Monday, January 9, after a hike in the first week of the year.

Last Monday, compared to the last week of 2022, prices increased by 7 cents in the case of straight 95 petrol, to stand at 1.67 euros per liter and by 2.7 cents in the case of simple diesel, to settle at 1.634 euros per liter.

Next week’s trend is back in cuts, 95 cents gasoline is expected to drop by 2.5 cents, while straight diesel is supposed to drop by 4 cents. Prices for the two fuels should therefore be 1.645 euros per liter in the case of petrol and 1.594 euros per liter in the case of diesel, thus lowering the threshold of 1.6 euros per liter.

Thus, gasoline remains more expensive than diesel by 5.1 cents.

This fuel update comes in a week where crude oil traded in both New York and London lost significantly. The negotiations have been affected by an increase in COVID-19 cases in China, as well as concerns about a recession in Europe and the United States – giving strength to the prospect of lower demand.
