THomas Vinterberg was one of the professionals to be featured at the 93rd Academy Awards, which took place Sunday 25 April.
The 51-year-old director won Best International Film award for “Another Tour” starring Mads Mikkelsen.
In his speech marking the award, Winterberg presented the award to his daughter Ida, who died in a tragic car accident in 2019. She was only 19 years old.
“Four days of registration and the impossible happened. An accident on a highway took my daughter, someone was looking at her phone. We miss her and love her.”The manager said he clearly moved.
“Two months before we produced this movie and she died, she was in Africa. She wrote me a letter, she read the script and was very excited. She loved it, saw herself in it and she was supposed to be involved,” she said, mourning.
He continued, “If anyone dares to believe that she is here with us, they will be able to see her applauding us. We ended up making this movie of her as a tribute.”
“So, Ida, what happened was a miracle, and you are a part of it. Maybe you put some pegs here, but this is for you.”, Completed.
Note that Ida will be making his movie debut in this Father movie.
