With price increases in tariffs in general, and now with the disappearance or adaptation of tariffs designed for young people, it is undeniable that consumers are losing patience with the three main mobile network providers operating in Portugal.
In fact, we already have many consumers accusing these same suppliers of being authentic cartel Telecom in Portugal.
- What is a cartel? It is a cooperation agreement between companies that seek to control the market, set prices and limit competition. Naturally, cartels harm consumers by raising prices and restricting the supply of products or services.)
Having said all this, the vast majority of fingers are now pointed at the largest of the three companies, Vodafone, which operates in several European countries, with exactly the same services. Incidentally, one excellent example is even our Spanish neighbours, who despite the fact that they have higher minimum and average wages than ours, and much more area to cover with antennae, enjoy the same services at lower prices.
Vodafone is (much) more expensive in Portugal than it is in Spain
So, as expected, there have been many posts on social networks, where Vodafone prices in Portugal are compared to Vodafone prices in Spain. Prints that go viral, because prices are actually more advantageous on Spanish soil.
Why? Well, depending on the operator, every case is different, or rather, every market is different. Nice talk, but that doesn’t explain why in some packages 1GB of data is more expensive in Portugal than 50GB in Spain.

Comparing things like this, like this, is clearly not fair to Vodafone, nor to any operator. However, it cannot be denied that telecommunications prices in Portugal are a joke, especially when compared to the large European potential. Something that doesn’t make much sense, like the size of our country and the concentration of resources in urban centers.
It is worth noting that the prices of most Vodafone tariffs increased at the beginning of this month. With the operator justifies itself with the increase in inflation.
