Waze is constantly being improved, especially when it comes to using it in Android Auto.  It has adapted all the innovations that Google has included in the release of Coolwalk and is now being made available to all users of this service.
With the continuous improvements, there are also some issues associated with these new versions of Waze.  These may be barely visible, but they are soon discovered, as they have now happened and are reported by many users in the channels usually used for this purpose.
The application consumes the smartphone battery
From what has been revealed, and contrary to what was expected, Waze remains active on the smartphone after using it in Android Auto.  The expected behavior to occur is that the application closes automatically, once the vehicle control unit is disconnected.
This situation means that users are not aware that the app is being used in the background on the smartphone.  This will eventually lead to excessive battery consumption and a natural deterioration in its performance.
The application problem has been officially acknowledged
The Waze team has already gone public to acknowledge the issue, which is known to exist in version 4.93.5.11 of the app.  This is the latest version available on Google Play, and as expected, it is also the most used version by all users.
The solution is expected to be rolled out very soon and the next version of Waze will fix the issue.  Until then, users are advised not to use Waze or, if they do, to ensure the app is not running in the background on the smartphone and consuming battery unnecessarily.
