The arrival of electric vehicles has shown that automakers can still be creative in their proposals and in what they offer drivers. Ford has now demonstrated this with a new patent, allowing it to get extra power in times of greatest need.

Gaining power is naturally essential to electric vehicles.  Although the network of charging stations is growing, there are times and situations when it is difficult to feed the batteries and accumulate the energy needed for commuting.
Ford registered now Patented Which brings something essential, but at the same time clear and can be an interesting solution.  He wants to use an additional battery on the roof of the car to feed the main batteries of the electric car.

In the registered patent, Ford describes "a backup battery for an electrified vehicle."  "In particular, a backup battery that can be installed on the roof of the electrified vehicle," he adds.
The system includes several battery modules, a backup battery pack (which contains the modules), cable and connection port on top of the rooftop rack.  According to Ford's patent, the roof rack is flexible and can be used to carry other items.  When the system is activated, drivers can use the cable to connect to a charging port to power up the vehicle's battery.

The manufacturer says that in some cases the backup battery may be sold as an aftermarket item.  They may also be rented in other situations, such as before a longer trip through areas where charging points are scarce or non-existent.
Although the plug-in external battery system may sound like an interesting idea from Ford, it is not practical.  On the other hand, there is the problem of the additional weight that the electric vehicle will carry.  On the other hand, there is the aggregation issue associated again.  It remains to be seen how, if ever, the brand will embody this modernity
