Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier was arrested on Friday morning.
The dispute revolves around alleged discriminatory comments he made in the 2021/202 season, when he was coach of Nice.
In addition to Christophe Galtier, the son, John Valovic, is also in police custody, Agence France-Presse reports, citing a judicial source.
The case arose last April, when journalist Romain Molina, at RMC Sport, revealed the content of an email allegedly sent by the former Nice sporting director to INEOS, the club’s owner, in June 2022.
It was then revealed by Julien Fournier that Galtier had defended that “there can’t be too many blacks and Muslims on the team”.
At the time, Nice responded in a statement, stressing that both elements had already left the club, and ensuring that the case could have been taken “with the greatest seriousness at the time of events”.
Then the French Public Prosecutor’s Office announced the opening of an investigation, and Galtier was “deeply shocked” by the accusations, with PSG then guaranteeing full support for the technician, who appears to be leaving now, in parallel with the case. of court proceedings.
