CM Punk and Jack Perry had a falling out backstage at Sunday’s All In pay-per-view, resulting in AEW suspending both fighters.

In addition, it was reported that the “Second City Saint” threatened to leave AEW and even insulted Tony Khan in an altercation.

This Saturday, AEW released a statement announcing that it had terminated its contract with CM Punk, and therefore was fired.

The termination of the contract was confirmed and commented on by Tony Khan, CEO, General Manager and Chief Creative Officer of AEW, who said the following:

elephant [Brooks] CM Punk has played an important role in AEW and I thank him for his contributions. Terminating your contracts with AEW for any reason is ultimately my decision, and mine alone. Of course, I wish I didn’t have to share this news, which might be disappointing to many of our fans.

However, I am making this decision for the benefit of the many amazing people who make AEW possible each week – our talent, staff, arena operators, and many others whose efforts are not recognized but are essential to bringing our fans the best they can be. The decision follows a days-long investigation into what happened, and several other controversies involving CM Bank over the past year.

Collision will take place on Saturday and All Out on Sunday at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, the fighter’s hometown.
