FC Porto president, Pinto da Costa, announced this evening, at the Dragões de Ouro ceremony, that the construction of a new academy will advance in Maya and work will begin in 2024.
The infrastructure will be implemented on a plot of land of 20 hectares, 22 thousand square meters, and the project will be led by Manuel Salgado.
It will have a League II field, nine 11-a-side soccer fields and one 7-a-side soccer field. In addition, it will also contain medical offices, hydrotherapy, a gym, locker rooms, entertainment and study rooms, as well as 70 bedrooms, a kitchen and a dining room.
“The future will be bright. I am happy to tell you that the big dream you had in our sports complex in our academy will become a reality. In partnership with the Maya City Council, we were able to find a solution that fits what we are going to do. The project was actually designed by architect Manuel Salgado. Don’t let anyone worry. We have already secured financing for such an important project,” said the Porto club president at the Dragões de Ouro ceremony, held on Thursday evening at the Coliseu do Porto.
“We still dream that the club we welcome should continue to be bigger and bigger. As Pessoa said: ‘I have all the dreams in the world inside me’ and I still dream. What is planned, which is to start works at the beginning of 2024, will be a reality» .
