sIt looks like Amazon’s Project Kuiper is finally ready to go. The company says that the first two Kuiper project satellites are scheduled to be launched on October 6.
Like SpaceX’s Starlink network, Amazon’s Project Kuiper aims to create a network of satellites capable of delivering high-speed internet to remote areas of the world.
KuiperSat-1 and KuiperSat-2 will be the first satellites in a network that, over the next six years, will form a constellation of 3,200 satellites. At least that’s Amazon’s expectations, as the company will use these two satellites to test the connection between Earth orbit and operations on solid ground.
“We have done a lot of testing in the laboratory and have a high level of confidence in the satellite design, but there is no way to replace in-orbit testing.”said Rajeev Badial, Vice President of Technology at the Kuiper Project. “This is the first time Amazon will put satellites in space and we will learn a lot regardless of how the mission goes.”.
