The United Nations General Assembly, with the support of 120 countries, adopted a non-binding resolution on Gaza. There is a request for a truce.

The text calls for “an immediate, permanent and sustainable ceasefire on humanitarian grounds leading to an end to hostilities.”

Norway is among the countries that voted in favor of the resolution.

Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said he was happy with the adoption of the resolution.

– He says that the international community agrees on many pivotal issues, including the importance of protecting civilians and addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Jordan was behind the project. It had to have the support of two-thirds of the United Nations members present in the hall. 14 countries voted against the resolution, and 45 countries abstained from voting.

The newspaper wrote that the decision was not well received in Israel Haaretz.

On Friday evening, Israel announced the expansion of its attacks on Gaza, and on Saturday night, there were reports of violent explosions in the Gaza Strip.

There were also reports of ongoing fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas.

Israel makes clear that it will not respect the call of United Nations countries for a ceasefire.

– On the contrary, we reject the despicable call of the United Nations General Assembly for a ceasefire, as Israeli Foreign Minister Cohen wrote on X, Twitter previously.

He compares the world’s war against Nazism and the terrorist group ISIS, and writes that Israel will continue its war against Hamas.

He also criticizes Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan.
