a Microsoft Yesterday, Tuesday (31), highlighted the addition of some new features to the application One note to Windows in October. New features include functionality for users with digital pens, some new layout improvements, and more.
According to the company, with the text pen selected in the Draw tab, you can convert handwriting to text while writing and editing converted notes with natural gestures, such as selecting strikethrough text or deleting text by drawing on it.
Some tools have also been added to help users take handwritten notes and draw. This includes a new Draw tab, improved reliability for inking, and a quick help shortcut designed specifically for inking.
OneNote for Windows is also getting a predictive text feature that shows what word the user is likely to type next, saving some time. This new functionality will require a Microsoft 365 subscription.
In addition, Microsoft has also added the Vertical Tabs option to OneNote for Windows in its View menu. If you’re a heavy Teams or Outlook user, a vertical tab view should help you navigate the OneNote app better.
Finally, Microsoft reconfirmed that OneNote for Windows will get an AI-based Copilot assistant in November. This way, you’ll be able to use the prompts to make plans, summarize your notes, generate ideas, create lists, and more.
