Benfica created 2 expected goals (1.7 x G) compared to 1 goal for Sporting (0.7), an indicator that would eventually justify the derby result, but… 0.95 was added to the return shots from Neves and Tingstedt.

Once again… Joao Neves. In a few years’ time, we’ll only be talking about the goal, but the young midfielder was one of the few Reds players who was on top from start to finish, winning 17 duels and adding 15 defensive actions. Everywhere.

Morato was the centerpiece of Schmidt’s surprise in the derby, playing at left-back, and the surprise clearly went very well. The Brazilian assisted on the equaliser, but along the way he won 13 duels and equaled the league maximum in tackles, with nine.

Edwards was sacrificed early in the 57th minute. The Englishman did not do everything well, but exiting the derby without missing a single pass (out of 16 passes, two of which were for shots, and one for Gjokeris’s wonderful goal) is not for everyone. He also made four progressive forays with the ball.

There were five progressive “rounds” (reducing the initial distance to the target by more than 25%) by Gyökeres. Not only did the Swede score a goal, but he once again looked tireless, always keeping the Reds’ defense on target.
