JE sees audience numbers rising 11% in 2023 and achieves shared leadership in economics

According to the latest vacancy in Bareme from Marktest, with regard to 2023, the weekly edition of JE has the same audience as the so far market leader in business newspapers, “Negócios”, which in the same period decreased by 9%. In Category A, students and female audience, JE’s audience is already higher, while in Category B and in middle and top management, the two newspapers are related.

The weekly edition of Jornal Economico has seen its audience grow by 11% in a year, according to the latest data from Jornal Economico. Barem Press, from Marktest, was released this week. JE’s audience is now 1%, out of 8.5 million people. It is the same audience that enjoys the hitherto isolated leader of the business newspaper market “Negócios”, which in the same period fell by 9%.

The strong growth in Jornal Economico’s audience has allowed it to reach leadership in important segments of the Portuguese audience, specifically in category A (which includes high-income readers) and in the female audience. In Category A, ten thousand people read Japanese, compared to nine thousand in Negócios, while the difference is even greater among female readers, from 30 thousand to 15 thousand respectively. JE is also a leader in the C2 category, among students, pensioners and pensioners, as well as among readers over 45 years of age.

In the remaining sections, the audience of Jornal Economico is linked to the audience of “Negócios” in Category B, in the Professional category and Senior Staff. “Business” in turn leads in categories C1 and D and in technical professionals and specialists, as well as in the male audience.

By comparison, among general newspapers, “Correio da Manhão” maintained its lead in this wave from Marktest’s Bareme, with an audience of 6%, followed by “Jornal de Notícias” (4.4%), and “Expresso” (4.3%) . and “Publico” (3.3%).

The PAREM data relate to the weekly edition of Jornal Economico, which is available on newsstands nationwide on Fridays. It is higher than sales figures (audited by the Portuguese Association of Circulation and Circulation Control) because it indicates the total number of people who have regular contact with each publication, even if they do not buy it. JE finished the third quarter with an average paid circulation of nearly six thousand copies, in paper and digital formats, according to ABCT. In contrast, Negócios ended the quarter with an average paid circulation of 7,163 print and digital copies.

Online, growth in the Jornal Economico’s audience was also evident, with readers surpassing 1.2 million in November.
