Hey Michelin-starred French chef Aurélien Largo, 31, resigned in 2021 for leading the La Table restaurant at the Hôtel du Palais, in Biarritz, after a reported insulting behavior towards one of his employees.
According to the Sud-Ouest newspaper, the dismissal came because of the humiliating scene that occurred on December 2. A young man was tied naked to a chair, with an apple in his mouth and a carrot in his anus, for several hours. Photos of the events were recorded and posted on social media by the chefs themselves, and were later deleted.
According to the same newspaper, the initiation rites will be in the La Table kitchen.
A spokeswoman for the Hyatt Group, which owns the luxury hotel in southwestern France, told AFP that management had been informed of a “worrying incident” that was filmed and shared online, without providing further details.
The Bayonne Public Prosecutor's Office told Agence France-Presse that a preliminary investigation had been opened into the scene of violence that occurred at the Palace Hotel, in the presence of Chef Aurelien Largo and his kitchen team.
The Palace Hotel's five-star restaurant has been managed since 2020 by the Michelin-starred company Largeau.
