The Camboriu Department of Health, through the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance, reports that so far, on February 16, the municipality has officially recorded 49 positive cases of dengue. In total, 311 mosquito hotspots were recorded across the city. The municipality has not yet recorded deaths due to the disease.

There is still no vaccine against dengue fever. People who have symptoms and need care should find the health unit closest to their home, which is open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. In cases of severe symptoms, the patient should go to the Camboriu Surgical Hospital (HCC).

Methods of prevention:
– Avoid using dishes in plant pots. If you use them, add sand to the edge;
– Keep trash cans covered;
— Always leave water tanks closed, without any opening, especially water tanks;
—Plants such as bromeliads should be avoided, as they accumulate water;
— Chlorinate the pool water and clean it once a week;
— Keep drains closed and unblocked;
— Wash pets' food and water bowls with a brush at least once a week;
– Remove water accumulated on the panels.
— Keep the toilet lid closed;
— Avoid accumulating garbage, as it can become a breeding ground for dengue mosquitoes.
— Report potential outbreaks of Aedes aegypti to the Municipal Health Department, by telephone (47) 3365-9441;
— If you have symptoms of dengue, chikungunya or Zika virus, find the health unit closest to your home for care.

The Epidemiological Surveillance Department advised residents to remain alert and remove potential mosquito breeding sites. Furthermore, daily use of repellents and even insecticides when necessary is important.
