The Helldivers 2 CEO does not recommend purchasing the game at this time

Published on

Johan Pilestedt, CEO of Arrowhead Game Studios and director of Helldivers 2, posted a message on X, advising potential players not to purchase Helldivers 2 until the server capacity can adequately support the player base.

When addressing this issue, Pilestedt highlighted the importance of ensuring that players who invest in the game can enjoy it without being hampered by long waits on servers. “If you don't have the money, buy it later,” he said in response to X, highlighting the need to prioritize a smooth gaming experience over immediate purchases.

Expressing his concern, Pilestedt stressed that it is frustrating to see players unable to access Helldivers 2, despite investing their hard-earned money. The studio is working hard to resolve the issues plaguing the game, and an update is expected this week to resolve some of the more significant issues.

Helldivers 2 has been an unprecedented success, exceeding expectations with over 450,000 concurrent players on Steam alone. However, increased demand from players overloaded the servers, resulting in an outage of the game.

As Arrowhead Game Studios continues to resolve server issues, Pilestedt's message serves as a warning to players to be patient before purchasing Helldivers 2.

In our review of Helldivers 2: “Helldivers 2 is another example of a rushed release, characterized by unstable servers and an abundance of technical bugs. However, despite these problems, it manages to be fairly enjoyable. Its biggest flaw lies in Lack of diverse content, which leads to monotony in a short time.”

“If you don't have the money, buy it later. Even though we've created a really fun game, it's worth the wait until the servers can handle the capacity.

As a CEO, I want the game to be as profitable as possible, but if you spend your last few dollars and get stuck in server queues, I will 💔.”
