Formula 1 is back with the 20th edition of the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand PrixThis year, it will be held between next Thursday (February 29) and Saturday (March 1).. Thus, qualifying will be held on Friday at 4 pm on mainland Portugal, and the race will be held on Saturday at 3 pm.
The Sakhir Circuit hosted the first General Prix held in the Middle East in 2004, and is a track where major races are held. It is located practically in the middle of the desert, and the sand sometimes bothers pilots. Since 2014, it has been held at night, and has long straights and slow hairpins, allowing for plenty of overtaking. This is a track where tire management is extremely important, and where traction is key to strong qualifying and race pace.
The local Grand Prix starts in the late afternoon, so temperatures drop as the race progresses, which affects the behavior of the tyres.
