Discuss and reflect on the role of women as knowledge producers. This was the goal of the educational visit carried out by a group of youth and adult education students (EJA(at the municipal primary school)emif) Edmardo Seraphim de Oliveira. The destination was Praça da Ciência, one of the centers of science, education and culture (CCEC) in Vitoria, which has a special program in honor of Women's Month.

Accompanied by teachers Erika Souza and Sueli Freitas, the students had the opportunity to participate in a fascinating workshop on the stars, inspired by the work of Cecilia Payne. The British-American astronomer is being honored with an exhibition about her contributions to astrophysics, under the slogan “An Investigative Journey to the Stars.”

“Emph EJA Edmardo Seraphim de Oliveira understands the city as an educational space and thus presents itself as an element that adds knowledge to the school curriculum. In this sense CCEC The teachers explained that “in the municipality of Vitoria there are distinct spaces for building knowledge, as their essence is to spread scientific knowledge to everyone who visits them.”

Thus, the group of students reflected on the historical role of women in science, which, according to the professors, is a relevant topic to encourage the participation of more women in the production of scientific knowledge. They noted that the students participated actively, with a lot of curiosity and interest in the topic.

In addition, teachers expressed their desire to take all students in the second year of primary school (EJA), benefiting from the special programs being held in the square this month. They emphasized: “We realize that this initiative is necessary to highlight the historical role of women. The students’ participation in the workshops and exhibition helped us discuss the important role of women as producers of knowledge throughout world history.”
